With the sign of ashes on the forehead, the Church invites us to begin the path of Lent with faith and hope. This time of preparation reminds us that we are pilgrims in life, calling us to conversion and to renew our hearts to joyfully celebrate Christ's victory over sin and death.
Lent is a spiritual path that encourages us to go to meet God and our brothers. Each of us, as Christians, are called to grow in faith, leaving behind everything that can separate us from the relationship with God. This liturgical time is an opportunity to reflect on our lives, questioning whether we are really on our way or whether we have become immobile in routine and hopelessness.
Walking together is an essential part of the Christian experience. God does not call us to live faith alone, but in community. The Church is a people that walks, united by the Holy Spirit. Lent challenges us to overcome selfishness, indifference and division, it invites us to ask ourselves if we are building communion in our homes, in the Church and in society.
Additionally, Lent reminds us that we move forward in hope. The resurrected Christ is the guarantee of our salvation and the promise of eternal life. His victory assures us that God's love is stronger than any suffering, and this certainty drives us to live with confidence, without fear of the future.
May this time of grace help us to walk with a renewed heart, open to conversion, to encounter with others and to hope in Christ. May the Virgin Mary, Mother of Hope, guide us on this Lenten journey towards Easter. God bless us and be with us.
